Upgrading Affirmation Works iPhone App
April 17, 2012
As most of you know, version 2.0 of the Affirmation Works! app for iPhone/iPad
was released a few days ago and is now available at the iTunes App Store.
This was a big update, as it was the first to incorporate downloadable affirmations. Many new users have joined recently which is very exciting. This is shaping up to be a very successful enhancement to the product!
However, we were receiving reports that some folks were losing their custom affirmations after upgrading from older versions!
This was a very unacceptable situation, so we researched the issue and discovered that Apple had changed its policy regarding user data storage. For those interested in the more technical details, Tim Anderson summarized the issue pretty well .
Most importantly, here is what we have done about it, and what can you do to protect your affirmations in future upgrades:
And additionally, we have included a new feature with version 2.1 that allows you to email all of your affirmations to yourself. This way you can be 100% certain you will never lose an affirmation again! This also may come in handy for emailing several affirmations to a friend (or even to us, if you wish to contribute !)
We hope users of the new 2.0/2.1 version are enjoying the new additions and we look forward to planning for the next release. Be sure and let us know if there are any features in particular that you would like to see - we love getting user feedback!

The Fix
We have integrated the localstorage fix in a new version 2.1. Once approved by Apple, you will want to upgrade. This should recover any lost affirmations - though oddly, you will need to run the program twice to do so:- After upgrading, run Affirmation Works!
- Fully quit the application (double-click home, then "kill" the Affirmation Works app by finding it along the bottom task panel, pressing and holding it until it "shakes", then clicking the red circle with a "-" in it.)
- Run Affirmation Works! again.
Future Proofing
With version 2.1 your affirmations will be backed up along with the rest of your iPhone, either into iCloud, or on iTunes (depending on your personal backup settings). And additionally, we have included a new feature with version 2.1 that allows you to email all of your affirmations to yourself. Another feature request is the we should be able to move the category list up/down via edit option. This is the standard feature with iPhone apps.
thanks
Your expectation of a reminder is a sensible one - this is a feature we plan to add at some point. Hopefully soon!
